What is Tantra?

Sexuality as a spiritual healing method was practiced more than 5,000 years ago through the ancient spiritual practice of Tantra.

The esoteric teachings of Tantra have often been labeled as secret or forbidden. Tantra views the body as a manifestation of the spirit and sexual energy to be the life force of the Universe. It is by making the body pure and strong through asana, pranayama, meditation, mudras, and mantras that the body can become a vehicle for ending one’s suffering, any negative imbalances, and for attaining liberation.

The word Tantra comes from the combination of two Sanskrit words—tanoti (expansion) and treyati (liberation). In particular, it refers to the pathway from ignorance to enlightenment and literally means continuum or the expansion of consciousness. It is a method to expand the mind and liberate dormant potential energy.

Tantra is about being fully in the present moment and engaging with yourself and your partner at the most intimate level. It is about experiencing pleasure to the fullest along with being a means of spiritual healing. The orgasmic journey activates the nervous system and awakens the healing capabilities inside the body. This allows a complete energy flow in mind and body, aids in removing blockages, alleviates any pain (physical or emotional), and elevates the energy quotient in the body.
