Chanting


Chanting which is part of the Vedic spiritual discipline has many benefits

  • reduces stresses and increases energy

  • raises positive energy which is beneficial for the nervous system especially those suffering with ADHD

  • improves listening skills

  • increases compassion and sensitivity towards others

  • allows for spiritual growth

  • raises one towards higher vibrations overall.

There are chants in the Vedic Scriptures for many different purposes. Some have been highlighted below:

Krishna Maha Mantra:

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna

Rama Rama Hare Hare

Mantra when dealing with difficult times:

Mookam karoti vaachaalam Pangum langhayatey girim Yatkripaa tamaham vandey Paramaananda Maadhavam

Translation:

I salute that Madhava The source of Supreme Bliss, Whose grace makes the dumb man eloquent And the cripple cross mountains.

Mantra for Success:

Krishna Krishna Mahaayogin Bhaktaanaam Bhayankara Govinda Permaananda Sarvey Mey Vash Maanay

Translation:

Requesting the Supreme Lord Krishna to bring success to us in our endeavors.

Gayatri Mantra (Universal Prayer):

Om bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ tát savitúr váreṇ(i)yaṃ bhárgo devásya dhīmahi dhíyo yó naḥ prachodayat

Translation:

We meditate on that most adored Supreme Lord, the creator, whose effulgence (divine light) illumines all realms (physical, mental and spiritual). May this divine light illumine our intellect.
