What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese holistic healing technique for wellness, personal growth, and spiritual development. Rei means “higher power” or “God’s wisdom” and Ki is “life force energy” also known as “prana” in Ayurveda. The father of Reiki is Dr. Mikao Usui.

Reiki is a healing method or “ryoho” which not only heals the root cause of the issue but also allows for the balancing of mind-body-spirit. It is used to reduce both physical and mental issues leading the harmony of the emotional and spiritual aspects too.

The body contains within it energy cycles or Chakras which affect the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects as the chakras tend to receive, assimilate, store and transmit energies. The exterior of the body is surrounded by an energy field called the Aura which gets depleted or blocked with our negative thoughts, emotions, and feelings. Reiki goes to these impacted areas and charges them with positive healing energy which in turn breaks the negativity and brings the energy fields back into harmony and balance, resulting in calm and peace.

In effect, this Higher Power energy or Reiki has a number of benefits:

  • it works on the circulatory, nervous, endocrine systems and the Chakras

  • Reduces pain and inflammation in the body

  • reduces the stiffness in the joints due to Arthritis and increases the ease of movement

  • helps to speed up the recovery and healing process after a surgery

  • boosts the immune system

  • reduces the feeling or fear or fearful thoughts when faced with a crisis

  • reduces stress, anxiety, depression and calms the mind and spirit

  • increases creativity and intuition allowing one to find their life’s purpose and direction

  • helps with insomnia and lack of confidence

  • increases self-awareness, personal growth, and spiritual development towards enlightenment.

In short, this beautiful holistic healing therapy is only beneficial in aligning the mind-body-spirit and can do no harm!
